Patrick Proudlock
Patrick Proudlock, Director
Patrick Proudlock has lived in Parksville since 1999. Regarding the Parksville Community Centre, Patrick looks to the past and the future.
In 1922, a hundred years ago, Parksville was a village of 500 people. The Parksville Women’s Institute voted to acquire waterfront property for a community park and a community hall. Since then, hundreds of individuals, community groups and local businesses have contributed many hours of work and money to build a community centre.
Now, Patrick sees that this generation is as needy of a central meeting place as a century ago. He is convinced that today’s Parksville residents will carry the legacy with a fresh new vision.
Claire Stechishin
Claire Stechishin, Board of Directors
Claire Stechishin grew up in the Parksville-Qualicum area, graduating from Kwalikum Secondary School in 2010. While a high school student, she volunteered with community organizations like the Rotary Clubs of Parksville and Qualicum Beach. Before returning to the area in 2021, Claire lived in a number of different places across Canada, as well as in Poland, Australia, and the United Kingdom. She studied politics, law, and international relations while at university, both in Canada and abroad. Claire also worked for non-profits and other volunteer organizations that focus on anti-poverty, expanding legal rights, supporting people who have been marginalized.
As of 2021, Claire has been working for the BC Provincial Government, and currently works within the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development & Innovation. Claire volunteers with local community organizations across central Vancouver Island, and has been volunteering with the Parksville Community Centre since April 2023.

My name is Barbara Kennedy. I grew up in Hilliers and have lived on the island my whole life. I don’t think any place would feel more like home than here.
I have been employed at Cloverdale Paint in Parkville since 2004, becoming manager in 2010.
As a newcomer to the Parksville Community Center, I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and helping in any way I can to best serve the center and the community.
